The Red Stiletto Book Club

The Red Stiletto Book Club meets the third Monday of each month at the Malloy Jordan East Winston Heritage Center at 6:30 pm. The only requirements are to be avid readers and don a pair of red stiletto heels at each meeting. (It adds to the atmosphere.)

The book club reads and discusses mostly fiction, sometimes concentrating on the romance/erotica, Inter-racial/multicultural and paranormal genres. The club has also hosted several authors at their monthly meetings.

For more information contact Rhonda Scales at (336) 703-2950.

(There is a mandatory 30 minute cool down period after each meeting.)

  1. Helloooooo.
    Just finished Nocturne by RW.Shannon.
Was a little put off by the Wigger Vamp Lazarus. I'm sure that there are a lot of black women and others who likes that sort of thing, but I'm not one of them. For those of you who do not know the definition of wigger, its a white person that acts like the stereotypical black person key word being stereotypical. The love interest of Nell the main character in the book was a Wigger Vamp. I could get over the dreds, because I have seen some white guys with dreds and not all but some were hot. All through the story he called her Ma, I don't think that's cute not even when black men do it.This character was very ghetto from the start to the finish and in the up coming sequel and it really offends me. This book was not to my liking but others might enjoy.

    1. I had the same issues with the book. The premise was exciting, I'm a vampire fan and putting them in an urban setting, even better, but the "thug wiggler" was too much!
I did share it with some younger women and they enjoyed it. Maybe it should be marketed to them.

  2. Hellooooo
Just finished On Caristo's Watch by Billy London.
This story was great, dare I say even better than Windows? My only regret? It was not as long as Windows, *hint hint Ms.London*. In the mean time I will read it again. Tony is fun and silly and gorgeous , but at the same time he is dangerous and that to me is sooo sexy. Then you throw in that he is also educated.* Big Big Sigh *. I loved hating the villain and wanted to off him myself. In all I would recommend this book to ALL of my RED STILETTOS, and anyone just looking for a fun exciting read.

    1. THE CLAIM is the third book in the Italian Knights series and the wonderful writing of Ms London continues!
I fall in love with each bad boy that loves hard, breaks laws and punishes with cold deliberation - YES!

  3. Hellooooo, again.
I read Fourplay by Marteeka Karland
This is not a new read for me but I did want to tell how I felt about it.....OMG! I think Ms.Karland found her way into my deepest darkest fantasy. This book was so hot Im surprised that smoke was not coming from the pages. It was tastefully done and when I get the funds it will be on my book shelf at home. Then I will be able to pull it down ever so often to reread..... OK, OK..I will be rereading the heck out of it every chance I get. This is not the only Marteeka Book that I have read, but it is the one that i would suggest to my book club members. I loved this story and HAVE suggested it to all of my club members. It rocked!

  4. Helloooooo,
First I wanted to come back on and correct a mistake I made. I spelled Foreplay wrong in my last message.Sorry Ms. Karland. I was just so excited about the book. It really is that good. I have not read any thing lately but I would like to comment on some books and their author. The first book I read was Pretty as a Picture. It shocked me and thrilled me to no end. Then I read Garden of Earthly Delights. It was full of mystery and suspense. Is there more Thirteen I ask, and was given Special Occasion. I was also told that I might not like it, but I read it anyway.I thought it was poignant, sweet, and a lil corn ball, but hey...I love cornball.
